When you hear the term domestic violence or abuse what do you think it is?
Many people think it is all about physically hitting or hurting someone. It’s actually a lot more than that – it’s about any kind of behaviour which hurts - physically or mentally. It can involve one person controlling another through threats and fear. It is mostly girls who are the victims of abuse but it certainly happens to boys too, and also it happens in same sex relationships. If you are a boy who is being abused it can be hard to admit it – but you need help too – so don’t be afraid to ask.

If any of this is happening to you – think carefully about speaking to your boyfriend/girlfriend as you might be putting yourself at greater risk of abuse. Violence and abuse is NOT OKAY and nobody should have to put up with it.
